Canada's Premier Cybersecurity Industry Summit Returns

Fredericton, NB — The Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) is pleased to announce the 22nd Annual International Conference on Privacy, Security, and Trust. This year’s event will be a major gathering of cybersecurity leaders, policymakers, and researchers from across Canada, focusing on the changing challenges of cyber attribution and international cybersecurity collaboration. The annual Privacy, Security, and Trust (PST) conference and its related industry summit are well-known platforms for showcasing and discussing the latest issues and innovations in cybersecurity and resilience.

The Cybersecurity Industry Summit will be held on August 26, 2025, as part of the 22nd edition of the PST conference. The academic conference will take place on August 27 and 28 at the University of New Brunswick, in Fredericton. This year, around 160 research papers have been submitted by international researchers from 37 countries, demonstrating the conference's global reach and reputation. Founded in 2004, the PST Conference has become Canada’s leading platform for advancing cybersecurity research, fostering innovation, and encouraging collaboration among academia, industry, and government.

The Industry Summit will be opened by prominent Canadian leaders, including the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, and the One Canadian Economy; the Honourable Renée Legacy, Deputy Premier of New Brunswick; Tricia Geddes, Deputy Minister of Public Safety Canada; and Dr. Paul Mazerolle, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of New Brunswick.

A key highlight of this year’s Summit is the insightful panel discussion titled "Cyber Attribution - Beyond the Breach: Challenges, Techniques, and Policy Implications." The panel will feature leading voices from academia, government, and the private sector to examine the complexities of attributing cyber incidents, the evolving technological landscape, and the policy frameworks needed to address emerging threats. Additionally, speakers from prominent organizations such as the Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity, RCMP, Public Safety, Global Affairs Canada, Mastercard, Scotiabank, Rogers, TD Bank, and Sun Life will share their expertise, ensuring perspectives from across government, industry, and finance are represented.

“As a leader in cybersecurity innovation and skills development, the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity continues to strengthen Canada's digital resilience and economic growth,” said Dr. Ali Ghorbani, the founding director of CIC.

The PST conference remains unique with its balanced approach, combining industry insights with academic rigour across a wide range of cybersecurity topics. The Industry Summit offers a premier platform for cybersecurity practitioners, researchers, and decision-makers to engage in meaningful discussions and forge partnerships that strengthen Canada's cybersecurity ecosystem. We thank all speakers, panellists, and participants contributing to the 2025 PST Summit and look forward to an engaging and impactful event that will shape the future of cybersecurity in Canada and beyond.
